about

This song is based on the time I got so drunk and jacked up once, in Windsor of course, that I accidentally tried to swim the Detroit River. I made is about a quarter of the way there before noticing that I might die, and spent forty five minutes or so treading water and feebly paddling myself ashore. The part where the dead of this cruel river rose up to pull me under the waves and crown me as their king was pure embellishment. That never happened for real.
